About Crinoid
A crinoid is a type of marine animal that belongs to the same family as starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers — all part of the echinoderm group.
Crinoids are often called “sea lilies” because many species have long, stem-like structures that anchored them to the ocean floor, making them look like underwater flowers. However, they’re not plants — they’re animals that lived by filtering tiny food particles from the water with their feathery arms. They first appeared over 480 million years ago, and although most species are now extinct, a few still live in today’s oceans.
